We can anchor grief to technical images—photos, videos—but those compress our grief to encoded outputs, mix the subjects of the images up with the apparatuses used to capture those images. The technical image can change our relationship with death, but the relief of immortality is still temporary. I invited the golden oyster mushroom to decompose and reorganize the logic of the technical images I fed it.
